EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING
SOUTH IDAHO CHRISTIAN CHURCH
(D.O.C.)
February
2, 2007
In
attendance: Connie Day, Ray Thomas, Maryellen Thomas, Kathy Rupert, Angie Nelson, Jani DeMond, Gary Smith, Linda
Dealy, Ken Stamper and Larry Crist, Regional Minister.
Friday
evening the board met at the Burley Christian Church. The meeting finalized
the plans for the Snake River
Academy on February
24, 2007. They also discussed at length, the problems we are having with
people's commitment to the Mission trips
and came up with the following recommendation:
Each
participant will make a prayerful and considered effort to:
·
Honor and respect
our Nicaraguan brothers and sisters wishes
·
Provide the very
safest environment for those participating in the mission trip to Nicaragua
·
Maximize the
experience of the Nicaraguan mission trip by learning from our 10 years of
history.
The
Executive Committee of the Regional Board recommends to the Regional Board
for approval the following recommendations for the 2007 Nicaraguan Mission
trips and that, where applicable, these remain in place for subsequent
trips:
·
Participants must
be 16 years of age (or older) on or before the date of departure;
·
We will not send
more than 12 persons per trip;
·
There will be a
reasonable amount of time between trips and NO overlapping of trips;
·
All participants
on a trip will stay in the same facility;
·
That specifically
for the 2007 trips:
Mission partners, there will be no work scheduled or
done prior to their spring Assembly;
2. The dates for the 2007 trips will
be: March 21-30 - Camp
Emmanuel and April
18-28 - Waslala
3. Because there is no communication in
Waslala, and there are no medical facilities closer than a day's journey
and work in Waslala will be hard and it will be hot; and because life will
be tough and extremely hard and heavy in Waslala, only those who have the
ability to work under these conditions will be permitted to go on this
trip.
4. All those who will be going on either
trip to Nicaragua will
be expected to attend an orientation meeting on February 24, 2007, at 1:30
p.m. at Valley Christian Church in Twin
Falls.
5. Those wishing to be considered for
either trip MUST have $800.00 to the Regional office no later than close of
business (5:00 p.m.) on February 6, 2007. This money will be used to
purchase a round-trip airline ticket to Managua, Nicaragua
in the participant's name and that ticket will be theirs.
